Hi, my name is Joel and I teach English on Skype.
Right now, I want to talk to you about a word. It’s a really useful word. The word is, “stuff.” Maybe you already know this word, but are you using it correctly?
Sometimes I hear people say, “stuffs.” But, “stuffs” isn’t a word because the word “stuff” is already a plural word. So you do not need to add an “s” to the end. So, what does “stuff” mean? Well, in the context that I’m talking about, “stuff” means “things.”
So, you could say, “I have a lot of stuff to do.” That means I have a lot of things to do. “I bought a lot of stuff at the store.” That means I bought a lot of things at the store. “How much stuff are you bringing?” – How many things are you bringing?
You see it? It’s pretty easy. But remember, don’t say “stuffs.” Only say, “stuff.”
Let see if I can get some more examples for you… “There’s a lot of stuff on the bed.” “We have a lot of stuff to clean up.” “I need to buy a lot of stuff for the trip.” “I hope you’re not bringing a lot of stuff because we don’t have much room in the car.”
Ok, I hope this was helpful. It’s a really good word to use and it’ll make you sound more like a fluent speaker if you use it.
